Taking a home school course is a great solution for those who want to learn from the convenience of their own home, when they have time. Jacobs favorite son was Joseph. To show his love for Joseph, he gave him a coat of many colors. Due to this favoritism for Joesph, his brothers became very angry and jealous that they were not treated in the same respect. Joseph and his brothers did not share a close relationship because of their resentment, and so they plotted to kill him.

Jacobs oldest son Reuben wanted to spare Josephs life, therefore, they decided to throw him in a pit. They then noticed some merchants passing by, and decided to sell him to the merchants for twenty pieces of silver. The merchants took Joseph to Egypt. Joseph and his brothers would be separated due to their selfishness.

The Relationship of Joseph and His Brothers
Josephs brothers, after selling him to merchants, took his multi-colored coat and dipped it in the blood of a goat they killed. They took the blood-covered coat to their father, and he believed that Joseph was torn to pieces by a beast. Meanwhile, Joseph had become a powerful ruler in Egypt, which was the only country on the earth that had food during an awful famine. Which led Josephs brothers to Egypt to buy grain for food.

When the brothers arrived in Egypt they did not recognize Joseph, until he told them who he was. They were afraid of what would happen to them because of the way they had treated him, but Joseph was forgiving. He told them to go and get their father and move their families to Egypt as the famine would not be over for a very long time. Joseph and his brothers were then reunited and so were their families.

The story of Josephs coat is one of the oldest in the tradition of Christianity. Joseph was one of 12 sons from Jacob. He was the most favored of the 12 sons which manifested in the giving of his coat of many colors. Josephs coat resulted in the envy and hatred of his 11 brothers, and the jealousy they felt toward him.

Josephs coat brought evil intentions out of his brothers. They became quite jealous of him and plotted to kill him until they sold him in Egypt for 20 pieces of silver. They proceeded to tell their father, Jacob, that Jospeh had been killed by wild animals as they brought Josephs coat, smothered with blood. Jacob was greatly sorrowed until later when he finds that Joseph had become a great ruler in Egypt and the story was untrue.

The History of Josephs Coat
Josephs coat was a symbol of the prophetic dreams that portrayed Josephs future greatness. Josephs father loved him more than any of his other sons because he had been born to him in his old age. To show his love and appreciation for his son, he made a richly ornamented robe for him, which is known as the coat of many colors.

Josephs coat not only caused much jealousy and hatred, but was also a way of teaching Josephs brothers a good lesson. When they realized that Joseph was the governor of Egypt, his brothers thought he might imprison or even execute them. Joseph forgave them for what they had done, and they recognized the type of person that Joseph actually was.

The major lesson of the Joshua Bible Study is the fulfillment of Gods divine purposes for the Israelites. This is seen by Israels conquest of the pagan inhabitants of the land. The descendants of Abraham realized the promise of God by being given possession of the land.

There are symbolic lessons learned from the Joshua Bible Study. In Christian belief, the Canaanites symbolize strongholds, enemies or obstacles to be overcome. Canaan represents the promises of God being won by spiritual warfare and the warfare of Israel represents the fight of faith.

Judah was one of the 12 sons of Jacob. The tribe of Judah was one of the 12 original tribes of Israel, which was named after him. Jesus became a descendant of this tribe and was called the lion of Judah.

Judah had three sons, Er, Onan, and Shelah. God slew Er and Onan because of their wrong doings and wickedness. He chose a wife for Er whose name was Tamar. He promised Tamar to Shelah when he reached adulthood after Er was slain by the Lord.

The Downfall of Judah
Judah went to Timnath to visit his sheep sharers. While in the marketplace he noticed a woman who he thought was a prostitute, but instead was Tamar who had disguised herself. He laid with Tamar, and promised her a kid from his flock of sheep as repayment. She asked to have something of his in the meantime until he was able to give her repayment. Therefore, he gave her a signet, some bracelets, and his staff.

When he returned later with repayment he learned that the woman he had laid with was his daughter-in-law. He found out she was pregnant with twin boys. Months later, Tamar gave birth to Pharez and Zarah, who were Judahs sons.
